Why will you pick up this trip?
You’ll visit the most popular places preferred by international visitors when traveling in China, covering villages, smaller towns, to historic and innovated cities.

It will be a journey to experience cultures of different ethnic groups, namely Naxi, Tibetan, Miao, Zhuang and Han.

With this trip, you almost half swiftly circle most of the iconic cultural heritage in the southwest, southeast and north of China, like karst landform in Yangshuo, lively pandas in Chengdu, titanic Buddha statute in Leshan, Terracotta Warrior in Xi’an, amazing religious grottoes in Longman, Henan Province, the largest palace in Beijing, and Great Wall beyond Beijing.

Try different authentic food in each place. They are waiting for you to try, such as mild wonton soup, sour spicy rice noddle, extremely hot and spicy taste, wheat-made noddle in beef or lamb stock, or fruity wood-flavored roast duck, and other food usually found in China Town.

The best way to travel around China is by bullet train, seeing a wider variety of natural view on the road.

Does the trip suit you?
There are lots of walks and transfers by public transports including overnight trains, guesthouses and hotels. Keep in mind that conditions and facilities will vary in different places, especially in the rural community.

You should be active to decide your own food on the road.

On the public transport, it is the best space to meet and communicate with the local and feel their daily habits which may look bizarre to you.

Climate varies in different parts of China. It could be extremely hot during the summer. The trip will bring you to feel the weather in different landforms, like basin, plateau and plans.

The Great Wall hiking beyond Beijing and Tiger Leaping Gorge can be challenging but an unforgettable experience.

Visas - A visa is required for entry into China for all nationalities except Japan, Singapore and Brunei who are allowed visa free stays under 14 days. Travellers holding APEC cards are allowed entrance visa free if their card has already been approved for China.

Under the current guidelines to get a visa you will need to provide the following:

- Letter of Invitation from a Chinese agency

- Copy of Flight tickets

- Hotel booking confirmation

- Travel Insurance (some embassies ask for this document)

In some cases, you may be required to provide further information or documentation and if this is the case we will notify you as soon as possible.

Booking a Single Room - On this particular tour we are pleased to be able to offer travellers the option of pre-booking a guaranteed single room. Due to the variety of accommodation used on this tour, single rooms are available for a majority of the nightstops, however it would still mean sharing on any overnight trains. All of our tours are planned and operated on a twin-share basis, meaning that the standard cost is based either on individual travellers sharing accommodation with another group member of the same sex, or people who book together sharing accommodation.

Vaccinations and Your Health - We recommend that you contact your primary care physician or a travel doctor for advice on vaccinations and travel health and we advise that you check to see if your tetanus-diphtheria booster is still valid every 10 years.

Insurance - Travel insurance is compulsory for all our customers. At the start of the trip you must provide us with: the name of your insurance company, your policy number, a 24 hour medical emergency contact number, and the expiry date of the policy. You should ensure that your policy covers you for medical expenses and repatriation. If you are unable to provide all this information at the start of the trip you will not be allowed to join the trip. You can purchase insurance easily online by checking our Travel Insurance page.

Luggage - One main piece of lockable baggage and a shoulder bag. Total allowance: 44lbs/20kgs. Remember, you are expected to carry your own baggage – so don’t overload yourself. It is essential that your baggage is lockable; the airline/train authorities insist on this. Please be aware, before boarding a flight in China that the Chinese authorities will only allow bottles onto aircraft if they have been checked in as main luggage. Any bottles in the hand luggage may be confiscated.

China is a vast and varied country to attempt to see in a short space of time, but this tour managed to cram in a great deal into three weeks. We really felt like we got a sense of the varied culture, peoples and landscapes of China. This is an adventure rather than a luxury holiday, and if you are prepared to dive straight in to the experiences available (eating the regional food, travelling on public trains and buses, following local customs and interacting with local people) you'll get a real sense of Chinese everyday life and its epic history.

Katherine

There was a good balance of planned activities and free time in which to explore the various locations we visited. In addition our tour leader was really helpful in helping us plan additional activities not on the regular itinerary. Our tour leader was open and clear that our safety was his first priority (having a good time being number 2), and demonstrated this concern throughout our trip. In particular, he took great care to take local advice about the safety of undertaking the Tiger Leaping Gorge trek.

Felix

The long distances in China mean long journeys. The balance of internal flights versus overnight trains was about right. Travelling on Chinese hard sleeper trains was also part of the cultural experience! I have been on several guided holidays and our guide David ranks as the best tour leader ever had. He was continually helpful, enthusiastic, informative, reassuring, knowledgeable and (frequently) funny. Even when suffering with the stinking cold going round the group. He encouraged us to try new activities and engage with the local culture and people. No question or problem was too big or too small or too early or late in the day to deal with. David made my trip, and we feel we have a new friend in China.

China was a great adventure, and traveling with the group added to the experience. A great and very memorable journey. My expectations were not very specific or detailed, so I was happy with all parts of this adventure tour. As the journey progressed, I was not once disappointed, as each new place was seemed more exciting, without reducing earlier impressions. There were also good opportunities to explore on ones’ own.

Great places, great people and a very helpful tour leader!  Great tour leader, lovely guy- treated us like friends rather than a group he had to put up with!! Great sense of humour so had a really good time.

IT WAS THE BEST AND MOST MEMORABLE SIGHTS I HAVE EVER BEEN TAKEN ON A TOUR! IT WAS WILD BUT STILL COMFORTABLE!

OUR GUIDE DAVID HAS AN EXTENSIVE WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT HIS COUNTRY'S HISTORY AND ITS CURRENT PROGRESS. HE TELLS HIS STORY OF CHINA WITH PRIDE, WHICH MEANS ALOT TO ME AS SOMEONE WHO SHARES THE SAME HERITAGE BACKGROUND. WE HAVE BEEN ON 2 OTHER TOURS BEFORE AND BY FAR HE WAS THE BEST ONE OF ALL.

The tour allowed a look at the new emerging China with glimpses of the old China and the wild China. Beijing / Xian a bit rushed but then the tour settled to a nice pace. Accommodation was good and the travel not too intrusive. I have got to see a very wide range of places in such a big country! Got to learn a lot about chinese culture as well.

I thought the tour was great but it was made better by the fantastic tour leader we had. He was organised, detailed and answered everything we asked well! I was very pleased with china and the whole experience, Great tour! I have reccommended it to my friends. The tour guide Tina was brilliant! I enjoyed the things we had to do and what we seen as I didn't feel forced into doing local tours all the time as it consumed my budget.

The great wall was amazing: Mutianyu is an excellent location and I'm so glad we went in the morning before anyone else got there! Tiger Leaping Gorge was also great, although you might want to warn customers about the intensity level of the hike. It really was quite challenging and I think I'm fairly fit. Try to arrive earlier in Kunming to be able to go see the stone forest. The activities in Yangshuo were great!

Everyday something different to visit, many things to do, good food. The activity all interesting, especially at Yangshuo! We like the experience of overnight at E’mei Mt. Our tour leader has very good english for us not native! We understand everything, always with the group offering support.

We could see so many beautiful things in China, different places from Europe you thought it doesn't exist, but China teached us something else. It was amazing... Stony was a great guide, we had never trouble to go somewhere, all was very great! He also informed about the villages we were with plan information and show orientation walk for us. Love it!
