Visas

A visa is required for entry into China for all nationalities except Japan, Singapore and Brunei who are allowed visa free stays under 14 days. Travellers holding APEC cards are allowed entrance visa free if their card has already been approved for China.

In some cases, you may be required to provide further information or documentation and if this is the case we will notify you as soon as possible.

Booking a Single Room

On this particular tour we are pleased to be able to offer travellers the option of pre-booking a guaranteed single room. Due to the variety of accommodation used on this tour, single rooms are available for a majority of the nightstops, however it would still mean sharing on any overnight trains. All of our tours are planned and operated on a twin-share basis, meaning that the standard cost is based either on individual travellers sharing accommodation with another group member of the same sex, or people who book together sharing accommodation.

Vaccinations and Your Health

We recommend that you contact your primary care physician or a travel doctor for advice on vaccinations and travel health and we advise that you check to see if your tetanus-diphtheria booster is still valid every 10 years.

Insurance

Travel insurance is compulsory for all our customers. At the start of the trip you must provide us with: the name of your insurance company, your policy number, a 18 hour medical emergency contact number, and the expiry date of the policy. You should ensure that your policy covers you for medical expenses and repatriation. If you are unable to provide all this information at the start of the trip you will not be allowed to join the trip. You can purchase insurance easily online by checking our Travel Insurance page.

Luggage

One main piece of lockable baggage and a shoulder bag. Total allowance: 44lbs/20kgs. Remember, you are expected to carry your own baggage – so don’t overload yourself. It is essential that your baggage is lockable; the airline/train authorities insist on this. Please be aware, before boarding a flight in China that the Chinese authorities will only allow bottles onto aircraft if they have been checked in as main luggage. Any bottles in the hand luggage may be confiscated.

I was very impressed by the information provided during the tour and the volume of activities experienced during the tour. Cycling through the countryside where the bus will never goes. Hotels were very comfortable and the atmosphere was inviting. Tar was extremely patient with the variety of personalities and skill levels in our group. He interacted equally with everyone and made a sincere effort to address each person's concerns or questions. He navigated us through the countryside.

Sarah

AMAZING!!!!! It was above what I expected, and the incredible cultural experiences in China! My interaction with the people and guides has been nothing but a positive experience. They always go over and above my expectations in order to make the trip enjoyable and memorable. I always like to see and do as much as I can while traveling, as well as challenge myself physically. The itinerary allowed for that and I was able to fill my free time with local activities suggested by our guide.

Megan

An active   vacation that keeps you moving. Full itinerary, excellent tour guides, incredible   and exhausting! But amazingly fun. It was difficult to maintain a middle   ground pace as the group members were not all the same level of fitness. That   being said, Stony never let anyone feel uncomfortable about his or her   athletic prowess. He did a wonderful job of keeping everyone together.I will   remember always and look forward to another active vacation again soon!!

Deborah

Louis was fantastic and should lots of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm. Was keen to improve our experience through teaching us about local foods and traditions.

Include fewer tourist traps. Please do not misunderstand, there were only a few tourist traps. However, I would prefer to see fewer tourist traps and more of "authentic" China where few tourists travel.

Fabion

I know adventure trips have their hitches along the way, they are to be expected by in both cases, The itinerary was such that we could fit in the additional activities. Stony went above and beyond to ensure we got the most out of the trip. As a group we expressed interest in seeing additional sights and taking in additional cultural experiences and he made it all happen. He arranged the additional outings and accompanied everyone.  The van service that transported us on a daily basis was excellent.
