Hike the Great Wall from Jiankou to Mutianyu

Overview

Beat the crowds and enjoy a full-day hiking tour on the Great Wall from Jiankou to Mutianyu. This remote section of Great Wall offers great views, starting from the wild Jiankou Great Wall and heading to the restored Mutianyu section. Follow your guide, walk towards Zheng Bei Lou, have a picnic lunch on the wall and then go east to Mutianyu. It's a moderately challenging walk of about 6-7 hours including photo stops.

Day 1 Beijing - Hike the Great Wall from Jiankou to Mutianyu

Meet your guide in central Beijing and hop in an air-conditioned vehicle for a 2.5-hour drive to Jiankou, where you'll begin your moderate 6-mile (10-km) hike along original sections of the Great Wall. As you hike up hill for the first hour, admire sweeping vistas and notice the elaborate stonework and roofs of structures and statues. Then you will reach the restored Mutianyu section, one of the best preserved areas of the Great Wall. End the tour with a drop-off at your hotel at around 6pm.
